The Bicentennial House is a place that offers various art courses and workshops, such as theater, dance, ceramics, costume design, and theatrical makeup. Located in the Sarmiento neighborhood, on the Víctor Oppel premises, it is a space that generates equal opportunities for all, and in this new edition of the Carnival, it will be very present, both in the major troupes and in the popular carnivals.
"We are working very hard to make our contribution from the Bicentennial House to the Carnival of Concordia, both in the major troupes and in the popular carnivals, within the framework of the cultural promotion policies promoted by the mayor Enrique Cresto," said Mariana De León, director of the Bicentennial House. On one hand, members of the Theater Workshop of the Bicentennial House are part of the "Bella Samba Troupe Front," so artistic support was provided from here, and it is a very important role because the kids are in competition. And on the other hand, this year we are going to present the Murga Los Gigantes del Bicentenario at the Momo popular carnival," she indicated.
José Barrios, puppet workshop teacher, pointed out that "we started the workshop a few months ago, and from there we wanted to involve our creations in this popular festival; the idea is that the kids can learn and put into practice what they have learned, showing in the carnival the work we are doing with the neighborhoods." The Murga "Los Gigantes del Bicentenario" will be composed of "giant puppets" representing different prominent personalities of Argentine history.
For his part, Cesar Dobler, Theater director, indicated that "with the kids from the Bicentennial House theater workshop, we worked on the creation of the Front Commission of the Bella Samba Troupe; for this, María Victoria Acevedo was summoned, she is in charge of the direction of this proposal, and we from the Bicentennial House provided them with the space and the kids from the Theater workshop who were very eager to participate."
It is important to highlight that all those interested can join the murga "Los Gigantes del Bicentenario" since it is an inclusive space, with no age limit; any resident can get in touch with the Bicentennial House and join this proposal.
