The department works jointly with the Municipal Disability Council to develop various actions that allow for care and management dedicated to covering transportation.
In this regard, as noted by the municipal director of Disability, Marcelo Primitivo, protocols were applied to act in the event of an emergency and specific plans were developed to assist people with disabilities. Furthermore, measures were established to guarantee access to information and the necessary resources to face the situation.
“In the emergency, we took care of managing accommodation for the people who have been affected. Together with the Regiment, spaces were enabled that have the necessary accessibility and security. In addition, in coordination with the Extramural Unit and the Directorate of Medical Specialties, comprehensive care is being provided with resources adapted to the needs of the population with disabilities,” detailed Marcelo Primitivo, in charge of the area.
Through the Municipal Disability Council, it was defined that social workers from the Directorate will carry out visits to the evacuation centers.
“The Social Department of the Directorate has been visiting the evacuated people to provide support and help. This support includes assistance in locating shelters and identifying services and resources that can help in long-term recovery and rehabilitation,” concluded the official.
