The judicial case was initiated following a complaint filed by the Municipality of Concordia itself, upon detecting that a group of seven workers had submitted forged secondary school diplomas seeking recognition and, therefore, the receipt of sums of money for such concept.
The Justice system proceeded to charge a group of municipal employees who allegedly presented false secondary school diplomas with the objective of receiving a salary supplement for academic training. The charges were ordered by the Prosecutor's Office of Concordia within the framework of the Preparatory Criminal Investigation, and the agents must appear to testify in the coming days.
For this reason, the Municipal Administration ordered the initiation of the corresponding administrative disciplinary proceedings against the municipal agents involved in this maneuver in order to determine administrative responsibilities regarding such maneuver.
The case originated from the internal detection of the irregularity by the Human Resources Directorate of the Municipality, which gave immediate notice to the authorities. After verifying the possible document forgery, the municipality filed the corresponding criminal complaint and simultaneously opened administrative disciplinary proceedings in order to apply the corresponding disciplinary measures.
“I want to be absolutely clear: in our administration, we will not tolerate dishonesty and scams. We are committed to transparency and as public servants, we must set an example in the way we act,” expressed the mayor Francisco Azcué. Likewise, he highlighted the role of the personnel who strive and train every day to provide quality services to the residents.
The Municipality of Concordia reiterates its policy of transparency, permanent control, and firmness in the face of any irregularity, reaffirming that public service must be governed by honesty and respect towards the taxpayers.
