Within the framework of the project for the creation of the “Concordia Open-Air Shopping Center”, a meeting was held between different areas of the Municipality and the Concordia Center of Commerce, Industry and Services with the objective of reporting the results of a survey conducted in the downtown area.
This first step is related to the “Urban Revitalization Program-Pedestrian Project”, which consists of expanding this space as a pilot test, prior to the creation of the Joint Commission, established in the Open-Air Shopping Center ordinance, which will approve investment projects, control the use of the fund and publish management reports.
In this regard, the Secretary of Government Luciano Dell´Olio reported that the survey conducted has to do with “carrying out an intervention and extension of the pedestrian zone, in the section between the end of it and up to 3 de Febrero street. We shared this information with the Center of Commerce, in what is the beginning of this joint work on the concept of establishing in Concordia the Open-Air Shopping Center that was created by ordinance at the end of 2025”.
For his part, Mateo Sastre, Undersecretary of Public Works, indicated that what is projected “is the installation of a series of modules, consisting of benches, signage, trees in pots and lighting”, remarking that “the intervention is reversible in nature, representing a pilot test thinking about the future”.
Architect Daniel Vera, Head of the Tactical Urbanism Department, pointed out that “the proposal is designed to transform this sector into a pedestrian zone during the weekends, working jointly with different areas of the Municipality and the private sector, with the objective that it be a benefit for everyone”.
Present at the meeting were the head of the Concordia Center of Commerce, Industry and Services, Adrián Lampazzi, and the vice president of the entity and delegate to CAME, Jorge Villalta.
SURVEY
The instance, carried out by the Community Directorate of the Municipal Autonomous Housing and Land Institute (INVyTAM) and the territorial team of the Secretariat of Human Development, was consultative in nature to learn about the main perceptions of the intervening community actors regarding the problems and potentials to be considered within the framework of the reference project.
During the survey, a total of 77 surveys were obtained, mostly carried out on Entre Ríos street and those crossing it, such as Urdinarrain, Estrada, Vélez Sarsfield, Güemes, Saavedra, among others.
77% of those surveyed state that they agree with the possibility of extending pedestrian use during Saturdays and Sundays, understanding that this will bring different benefits to the commercial sector of the city.
69% consider that the general public will take ownership of, use and enjoy the interventions of the urban project.
