The Municipality of Concordia continues to carry out health control and prevention operations through the territorial approaches of the Extra Muros program, promoted by the administration of mayor Enrique Cresto. On this occasion, it was carried out at the Villa Adela Health Center.
The Extra Muro Program focuses on providing care in different areas of the city, reaching those residents who are far from healthcare centers. Among the actions it carries out are completing the vaccination schedule for minors; height and weight checks; nutritional status; clinical care; HIV prevention; obstetrics, dentistry, and bringing all health programs linked to the prevention of different pathologies closer to the public.
In this case, the residents of Villa Adela were able to access check-ups in different branches of medicine: obstetric and dental check-ups, as well as pediatricians, gynecologists, nutritionists, and vaccination.
Consequently, Luisa Cabrera, a doctor and head of the Villa Adela Health Center, revealed that she met many residents at the Health Center who had not been receiving medical check-ups. In that sense, the professional maintained that “it is a satisfaction that we can check all the children and with all the areas. I am very happy that they have come to cover all the needs. The truth is that the Health Center is extremely necessary, as is the support of mayor Enrique Cresto”.
On the other hand, Marisa, a community nurse, valued the municipal program, arguing that “it is a very important public policy. Precisely in this way and with these approaches, for example, people with chronic diseases or other problems are detected, and a follow-up of each case is carried out together with all the professionals,” she emphasized.
Finally, Dr. Blas Gómez stated: “We go to the neighborhoods, especially where there are no health services. Every so often we go to the Mendieta neighborhood. There are several professionals working at the same time. If we detect any problem, we have the possibility of interacting with nutritionists and obstetricians. Obviously, completing vaccines and requesting interconsultations. The municipal Extra Muro Program is very positive because it reaches out to the community and allows access for those who usually cannot obtain their appointments at health providers.”
