The first edition of the XTRM Series-RallyFlight, an international sports flying competition that brings together more than 40 pilots from over 12 countries, was presented this Friday at the Aeroclub Concordia.
The event, which has official homologation from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), category 2 – CIMA World League Cup, is taking place from November 3 to 14, covering a 1,300-kilometer route distributed in seven consecutive stages through five Argentine provinces: Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, Córdoba, San Luis, and Mendoza, until reaching Tunuyán, at the foot of the Andes Mountains.
During this weekend, Concordia is hosting said competition, positioning it on the international stage as a city prepared to receive events and sporting occurrences of this magnitude.
In this context, the mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted these qualities, stating that “it is a satisfaction that they have chosen Concordia to compete and that through this, our city becomes known in other countries. It is very important to be able to welcome them and for them to have the best experience.”
From the administration “we continue working on the promotion of the destination, with all its attractions but also promoting event tourism, and this is one of those activities that show us to the world.”
For her part, the Undersecretary of Tourism and Executive President of the Ente Mixto Concordiense de Turismo (EMCONTUR), Belén Schauvinhold, maintained that beyond the sporting aspect itself, “they are visitors from other countries who are enjoying and getting to know the destination and our attractions. This exchange allows us to position Concordia in the international arena and generate connections that are very important for future commercial actions.”
The Director of the XTRM Series competition, Carlos Lemo, recalled that “last year, Argentine pilots suggested to me that a championship of this type never came to the Southern Cone. From there, the possibility of bringing it to Argentina arose and, after evaluating the route and carrying out test flights with other pilots, we verified that it was viable. The competition includes 22 different tests in which precision in navigation and fuel consumption are evaluated, seeking for the pilots to be as efficient as possible. These are not ordinary pilots, they are pilots with a lot of experience at a global level,” he valued.
The realization of this international competition represents an opportunity to project Concordia as a destination prepared to host events that promote tourism, sports, and local identity.
