The Municipality of Concordia, through the Health Secretariat, continues to carry out health control and prevention operations through the territorial approaches of the Extramuros program, promoted by the administration of mayor Enrique Cresto within the framework of policies for the prevention and strengthening of primary health care networks. On this occasion, the weekly operation was deployed in La Bianca.
“There is a large growing population in this area and although we are close to the Health Center, we observe that there is a demand for different types of care, which is why we are carrying out this territorial approach,” noted Dr. Blas Gómez, coordinator of the program.
At the same time, he said that “we encountered families who needed health certification for their children, to complete vaccination schedules, and appointments with nutritionists and dentists, so we worked on that,” he detailed.
Through the Extramuros Program, technical health teams work in different areas of the city, reaching those residents who are far from care centers. Among the actions they carry out are completing the vaccination schedule for minors, height and weight control, nutritional status, clinical care, HIV prevention, obstetrics, dentistry, and bringing all health programs linked to the prevention of pathologies closer to the public.
“Health policy aims at that, to convince people that it is important to have a basic check-up periodically,” mentioned Gómez and explained that “what we do is the following: what we detect as a problem in each patient, we register to address in the short term. Also, we provide basic medication if necessary. We try to ensure that people have a quick solution,” he explained.
This is a job that has been carried out since the beginning of this municipal administration and which mayor Cresto decided to expand and strengthen in this stage. The program is made up of a team of professionals that provides nursing services, vaccination, and card control; also, the participation of clinical doctors, pediatricians, obstetricians who perform pregnancy check-ups, nutritionists, dentists, and HIV testing.
