The Municipality of Concordia, through the Undersecretariat of Environment, informs that, in accordance with the latest results of the Water Quality Surveillance and Monitoring Plan for beaches, recreational use of the Uruguay River at Playa Los Sauces is now authorized.
Taking into account the weekly records, worked on jointly with the Administrative Commission of the Uruguay River (CARU), it is reported that the values obtained for the indicators of Escherichia coli, enterococci, and algal blooms at Playa Los Sauces have returned to levels permitted for recreational use.
However, given that the monitored values vary depending on different factors, fundamentally during the summer season, the recommendation to avoid ingesting river water and to shower after entering remains in place.
Furthermore, it is reported that Playa Nebel remains authorized for recreational use.
The Environmental Technical Department, under the Undersecretariat of Environment, has been planning and executing the “Water Quality Surveillance and Monitoring Plan for Recreational Use” of the authorized beaches in the city of Concordia since the beginning of this year, with the objective of obtaining data on the healthiness of the beaches and complying with Provincial Resolution SMA No. 84/07.
The program includes weekly monitoring, with sampling to evaluate different microbiological parameters of pathogens and visual observation of possible algal blooms.
