On Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd, the XVI International Meeting of Drum Sections, Batucadas, and Dancers will take place in the towns of Gualeguay and General Galarza. The event brings together the best of samba and percussion in an artistic display that attracts thousands of spectators and carnival lovers.
In this edition, 37 Drum Sections and 34 Batucadas will participate, including rhythmists, dancers, featured performers, drum section queens, and malandros, in an unprecedented show that ignites passion and popular culture.
In this regard, the director of the Permanent Carnival Entity, Luis Sánchez, indicated that “for many years we have been represented by the different drum sections of our city, and in this edition, it will be through the TNT Drum Section of Emperatriz and Explode do Samba. I am sure that both will have a great performance," he predicted.
In that context, Sánchez stressed that “from the Permanent Carnival Entity, we will be accompanying and supporting the competition, hoping that one of our drum sections can be crowned again, demonstrating what they are and the level of our Carnival, the most passionate in the country”.
EMPERATRIZ
The Emperatriz comparsa and its renowned “TNT” drum section were winners in 2022 and 2023, where they reaffirmed their leadership in the carnival scene.
This year, the emperors will have 140 rhythmists on stage, accompanied by a wing of dancers, a drum section queen, a male dancer, and a featured performer. A total of 160 competitors.
This meeting, which grows year by year, not only celebrates the competition but also strengthens the brotherhood between comparsas and the dissemination of samba culture in the region.
EXPLODE DO SAMBA
For its part, the Explode do Samba comparsa, with its “Pulsacao” drum section, continues its consecutive participation since 2022, adding 50 rhythmists this year, along with female and male dancers, a featured performer, and a malandro.
