In the framework of the activities for International Women's Day, the Municipality of Concordia, through the Undersecretariat of Culture, carried out the "Women Who Transform" event, a tribute to those women from different neighborhoods of the city who, with their commitment, solidarity, and dedication, generate a positive impact in their community. These women have been chosen by the representatives of each neighborhood of the city.
The emotional meeting was marked by life stories that reflect the daily effort of women who run institutions, work in community kitchens, provide voluntary school support, and perform multiple social tasks that strengthen the community fabric.
During the day, Mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted the importance of recognizing and making visible the fundamental role that these women play in society: "Each one of you is a pillar in your neighborhood. Your work, often silent, is a driver of change and hope. From the Municipality, we will continue to accompany and strengthen these initiatives so that you can continue transforming the reality of Concordia."
For her part, the Municipal Vice President and President of the Deliberative Council, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, remarked: "This recognition is not just a symbolic gesture, but a commitment of the entire city to those who, day by day, support so many families with their effort. Thank you for your dedication and for teaching us the true meaning of solidarity."
The Undersecretary of Culture, Carlos Gatto, emphasized the importance of creating these spaces for tribute: "From the Undersecretariat of Culture, we want to continue promoting actions that value the work of those who, with love and dedication, build community. Women Who Transform is a well-deserved recognition for those who leave a mark with every gesture of solidarity."
The event featured artistic performances that framed the day of celebration and recognition, and concluded with the presentation of certificates to the women chosen by the representatives of each neighborhood, in gratitude for their tireless social work.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Human Development Sebastián Arístide; Councilwomen Silvina Ovelar and Celeste Fuscado; the Director of Cultural Resources Alejandro Rodríguez and the Director of Territorial Approach Emanuel Almada; the Mayor's wife Laura Sitzmann and the general public.
The Municipality of Concordia thanks each of the honored women for their daily commitment and their invaluable contribution to the development of a more just and solidary society.
