This Saturday, the recreation of La Redota (the Oriental Exodus) took place within the framework of the activities carried out by the Mayor's Office of the neighboring city of Salto; the mayors Enrique Cresto (Concordia) and Andrés Lima (Salto) performed the traditional exchange of flags on the Uruguay River.
"This is a sign of the true integration of the two peoples, through their history and culture; we are strengthening the present with all the joint work that both mayor's offices are carrying out, and which is projected into the future," stated Mayor Cresto.
Aboard a boat, the heads of government met in the middle of the Uruguay River, and there they performed the exchange of flags as a symbol of brotherhood. Cresto, accompanied by his wife Leticia Ponzinibio, the vice-mayor and president of the Deliberative Council, Armando Gay, greeted Lima and, in his name, the entire people of Salto on this special date.
