The presentation of the “Diverse Spring” sessions, which will take place on October 6 and 7 under the organization of the Directorate of Preventive Management and Promotion with the support of the General Council of Education and the LGBTIQ Collective, was held at the Municipality of Concordia.
After the presentation, the director of Preventive Management and Promotion of the municipality, Bernardita Zalisñak, stated that through these activities, the goal is to “strengthen and defend the rights of sexual diversity, just as we have been doing day by day in the various training sessions and prevention workshops, with the support we have also been receiving from members of the sexual diversity collective”.
“Based on the fully interrelated, articulated, and complementary work that we are doing from the Directorate of Preventive Management and Promotion in the Sexual Diversity Area, we will carry out these sessions. This area was created during the first administration of mayor Enrique Cresto and was the first to be established in the province. Since then, we have been working together with the General Council of Education through workshops, talks in different schools, and also with the Organizing Committee of the Pride March, which is also present here,” she added.
In this regard, the Departmental Director of Schools, Fabián Vallejos, pointed out that this is “work that has been carried out in coordination with the Directorate of Preventive Management and the Diversity Area, with whom we have been working on many aspects, because we understand that all these issues must be discussed, especially in schools, which is the environment where children have the greatest connection. For our part, we want to increasingly strengthen these types of aspects that seem more important to us every day and that have a very high value in the sense of our children's lives”.
For his part, councilman Gastón Etchepare said he celebrated and highlighted these topics of democracy and diversity, especially because these issues are being addressed in different parts of the city. "It is not an exclusive issue for government areas, but rather a social issue, and it is very important that we can work on it in an articulated manner and, above all, integrate all members of society, which is why I highlight it. I believe it is important to work on it in public spaces with the support of educational institutions, the Departmental Directorate, the Municipality of Concordia, and the Deliberative Council," he maintained.
On the other hand, Yusef Rodríguez, a member of the LGBTIQ Collective and member of the Organizing Committee of the Concordia Pride March (COMOC), officially announced the date of the Pride March, which will take place on November 11. “Everyone is invited to participate in this great event, and we also want to congratulate the Sexual Diversity Area for carrying out these inclusive policies and this “Diverse Spring” event,” he indicated.
Activities will begin on Friday, October 6, at 2:30 PM, with the screening of the film “Yo nena. Yo Princesa” at the Sarmiento School and the María Elena Walsh School, with the participation of the CGE ESI Coordination. Simultaneously, at Parque Ferré, a “Diverse Spring - 40 years of democracy” mateada will be held, where a round of reflection and exchange on various topics will take place, a native tree will be planted as a closing, and a photographic exhibition titled “Ausencias” will be held, featuring the participation of the Pride March Organizing Committee.
Finally, the “Diverse Spring” session will conclude with a talk and debate with the participation of professionals, institutions, activists, and families involved in the following topic: “Nations, rights, and tools regarding sexual diversity.” Members of the Institute for Research on Gender Equality and Equity of the Concordia Section of the Bar Association will be present.
