In an emotional meeting, residents of Concordia participated in the Free Handicrafts Workshop: Making Crochet Squares, an initiative aimed at making blankets for premature babies at the Masvernat Hospital.
The activity, organized by the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, was attended by Provincial Deputy Carola Laner, the Head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, Gladys Portugal, and the wife of the Mayor, Dr. Laura Sitzmann, who highlighted the importance of community commitment and working together to help those who need it most.
During the day, the participants not only knitted wool squares, but also exchanged experiences and words of encouragement. As a symbolic gesture, written messages with phrases of support and affection were delivered to accompany the blankets that the families of the newborns will receive.
Gladys Portugal underscored the role of senior citizens in building a more solidary society: “Our older adults have much to give, and this workshop is proof of that. Their work, their time, and their dedication are transformed into concrete help for families going through difficult times.”
For her part, Sitzmann highlighted the importance of solidarity in these types of initiatives: “When the community unites, we achieve great things. This activity not only provides warmth to premature babies, but also generates bonds of love and support among residents.”
The Municipality of Concordia reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting these types of spaces where the community can actively participate in solidarity actions.
For more information on upcoming workshops and initiatives, interested parties can go to the Directorate of Cooperativism and Associativism, located on the first floor of the Civic Center of Concordia (Mitre and Pellegrini), from 07:30 to 13:00.
