About Francesca Brown
As a child, I was encouraged to listen to and dance to any kind of music that was available. Since my mother was from northern Illinois and was very much into the blues, I spent a lot of time at outdoor festivals, where I was able to hear incredible music. My childhood was divided between California and Illinois, two very different places in many respects. I suppose this kind of contrast has always made me feel like two different people, "a little country, a little blues, a little weird".
My late teens and early twenties were a time when I really found the music I had been looking for my whole life. During this time, I listened to Bob Dylan and other inspiring artists like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, and Joni Mitchell.
Music is and will always be a big part of my life, but even more so is being an artist and being able to express it. I truly believe that life should be lived as your own artistic masterpiece, and that is what my music is, a kind of personal diary made up with fantasy.
