"We are finalizing details at the isolation centers that the Municipality has set up, anticipating the work in light of the increase in the number of coronavirus cases that is occurring," said the local government's Secretary of Health, Mauro García, who, together with the Director of Primary Health Federico Laner, Dr. Héctor Strasera, a member of the COES, and Lic. Ana Paula Vila, director of the Sports Clinic, held a work meeting at the facilities on Paraná and Hipólito Irigoyen streets, where one of the designated isolation centers operates.
"The city has remained in a fairly stable situation compared to other cities in the province, but as the mayor Alfredo Francolini always points out, Concordia is not an island. That is why we have been preparing to be ready for the different scenarios that may arise," stated Dr. García. After indicating his concern regarding "the multiplication of cases in recent days," he explained that "we are looking at a snapshot from ten days ago, which is the time that elapses from the moment of contagion until the first symptoms appear and the cases are detected with the corresponding tests."
"These places are prepared to contain all positive patients who are asymptomatic or oligosymptomatic, that is to say, with minimal symptoms. The idea is to be able to transfer patients here who do not require permanent medical monitoring. They are secondary isolation sites. Today we are seeing that bed occupancy in the Hospital is increasing, this affects the entire health system, as well as the care of the rest of the patients with other pathologies, which is why we implemented, together with the COES, between the Municipality and the Provincial Government, different actions to try to curb the advance of the pandemic," maintained the head of the Municipality's Health portfolio.
"People here will be isolated, they will not receive visitors. All conditions will be guaranteed for them to be able to carry out the quarantine for fifteen days or as long as necessary. This is an alternative, so that if necessary or when situations determine it, some positive patients in good health can be transferred here, which would help to reduce or control hospitalization in hospitals. In this way, we collaborate with the health system, we ensure that the quarantine is effective, and we can break the epidemiological link, which is what we are looking for with all these actions," explained the professional.
Finally, García reiterated the importance of "washing hands, sanitizing with hand sanitizer or soap and water, using a face mask or homemade mask, maintaining social distance, and avoiding leaving the house as much as possible. All measures that we already know, which are the main way to stop the coronavirus. That is the real way to collaborate and support the health teams," he emphasized.
