Participatory Budgeting
The Participatory Budget is a participation mechanism that incorporates debate, consensus, and citizen voting as tools that allow a portion of the Municipal Budget to be allocated to the realization of proposals and projects that people consider necessary for their neighborhood. It is a process of direct and voluntary intervention in which the citizenry, together with the local government, decides what it wants to invest the money allocated for its neighborhood in.
The process seeks to guide the redistribution of the city's resources in an equitable manner. On the other hand, through the PB, the doors are opened to a process of co-management of public affairs between the government and society, thus contributing to the deepening of democracy in the local space.
